Eruh celebrates 15 August.

The 30th anniversary of the resistance and freedom day of 15 August was enthusiastically celebrated in Eruh yesterday by tens of thousands of people.
Despite all efforts to obstruct the celebrations slogans shouted from the Çirav mountain reverberated around the town of Eruh.


Since 2009 the municipality in the district of Eruh (Dihe) in Siirt province has organised the Çırav Nature and Culture festival on the occasion of 15 August.
Tens of thousands of people succeeded in reaching the site of the celebration, surmounting police barriers to do so. 
The festival began with 'halay' folk dances.
The buildings were lit be illuminated PKK flags and the site was festooned with huge posters of Kurdish People's Leader
Abdullah Öcalan and legendary guerrilla commander Mahsum Korkmaz and photographs of the Kurdish women murdered in Paris, Sakine Cansız, Leyla Şaylemez and Fidan Doğan. Banners proclaiming “Leader Apo’s health is the guarantee of peace” and “Let us construct Democratic Free Life on 15 August.”
The celebration began with a minute's silence and the Herne Pesh march. 
HDP Eruh district chair Hüseyin Alan said: "We are grateful to the children of Kurdistan who 30 years ago took a historic step that brought us to today. If we have achieved what we have, this is thanks to to struggle of the martyrs in 1982 in the dungeons of Amed."
DBP Siirt provincial chair Mehmet Ata İnan said: "30 years ago the first shots of the resistance were fired. Today our people in Rojava and Sinjar are facing massacre. We must support our people both in Rojava and in South Kurdistan."
