Today is the anniversary of the Republic of Kurdistan (Mahabad) in 1946. The Kurds declared a state but it only lasted one year after the Soviets who supported the Kurds stopped their support and withdrew from Mahabad. Everyone was against the state including the Americans, Turks British and Iraqis. The Iranian government then attacked and destroyed any hopes of Kurdistan.To avoid Genocide of the people, Qazi Mohammed made a deal and offered himself up to the Iranians in a deal to save the civilian populations.The iranians hanged him and other leaders. Qazi mohammed said "I am proud of my execution, even at this moment when body will be hanging from the rope, my shoes are higher than my enemies head "Hero who won't be forgotten.
