ollowing a call by merchants in the cities of Javanrood, Saghez, Baneh, Marivan, Sardasht and Sanandaj, all in western Iran, the merchants went on strike and left their shops closed on Tuesday. This strike has been organized in protest to the closure of border passages for porters and the high cost of transportation fees.
The dealers in Javanrood gathered in front of their municipality after closing down their shops, and protested against the closure of border crossings that are the only source of income for the economically underprivileged local population.
