Swedish and exile Iranians, sympathizers to the Iranian National Resistance Council (NCRI), marked the 41st anniversary of the 1979 anti-monarchy revolution in Iran with a large demonstration at the Mint Market Square in Stockholm organized by the FFFI and its sister associations.

Mint Square, Stockholm
41 years ago this week, the Iranian revolution stunned the world. But the Iranian people's dream of a better future and democracy was quickly transformed into a nightmare as the priesthood usurped power. The regime's first supreme leader, Khomeini, abused people's trust and founded an "Islamic Republic" with a systematic persecution of dissent and political forces that rejected his religious sovereignty.
NCRI's elected president Maryam Rajavi sent a video message to the participants.
Your gathering and rally today in Stockholm is a clear testament to the Iranian people's relentless resolve to achieve freedom and to overthrow the inhuman clerical regime. #IranProtests # FreeIran2020 #IranRegimeChangehttps: //t.co/47redKD25d pic.twitter.com/08YRfOKJkX

"Your gathering and demonstration in Stockholm is clear evidence of the Iranian people's relentless determination to establish freedom and to overthrow the inhumanity of the priesthood," Maryam Rajavi said in her speech.
Participants showed their support for recent popular protests in Iran that are still ongoing despite the regime's brutal crackdown on protesters. They repeated the people's slogan against the regime and its paramilitary force of the Revolutionary Guard from the recent protests such as "Down with the dictator, down with Khamenei [the supreme leader of the regime]".
These regime-critical protests across the country show that the Iranian people have not given up on the dream of a free and democratic Iran but are doing everything in their power to bring back the stolen revolution.
Paulo Casca, former MEP Parviz Khazai, NCRI's representative in the Nordic and Baltic countries as well as Erik Wahlberg lawyer and Iranian, were some of the speakers who supported the participants' demands.
“The people have come out on the streets all over the country in recent years to demand the stolen revolution. We stand on their side and support their freedom struggle against the religious, fascist regime. We now urge the Swedish government to do the same and stand on the right side of the story, "said Mojtaba Ghotbi, FFFI's chairman who participated in Saturday's big demonstration.

The Swedish and exile governments urged the Swedish government and the Foreign Ministry to support the Iranian people's demand for a democratic regime change and to recognize the Iranian people's right to dismiss the priesthood with the help of its organized resistance movement, NCRI.
"The Iranian problem has an Iranian response. NCRI and its elected President Maryam Rajavi have presented a ten-point plan for future Iran that offers a sustainable, democratic alternative to the clergy 's religious sovereignty. We are here today to urge the Swedish government to recognize this reality and stand with the Iranian people and their legitimate resistance movement for a democratic change in Iran that is within reach, ”said Swedish-Iranian activist, Hossein Pahlawan.
Participants also demanded that Sweden and the EU act with their allies in the UN to pressure the regime in Iran to release all political prisoners, including the thousands arrested on arbitrary grounds during recent protests.
The Swedish and exile ranks supported NCRI's demand to put the Iranian regime to account for the recent repression. They demanded that Sweden act with the EU in order for the UN to immediately send an investigative group to Iran with the aim of investigating reports of the deaths of 1,500 protesters and torture in the regime's prisons of the thousands arrested in recent months.
