Humanitarian worker Pakhshan Azizi is at imminent risk of execution.
She was convicted of ‘armed rebellion’ for her peaceful humanitarian and human rights activities, including assisting displaced women and children in north-east Syria. The Revolutionary Court in Tehran sentenced her to death following a grossly unfair trial. The Supreme Court has upheld her sentence, and her lawyer says she could be executed at any moment. '

Pakhshan Azizi was subjected to torture and other ill-treatment, and endured gender-based violence. She was repeatedly told by her torturers that she had no right to live.
She is from Iran’s oppressed Kurdish ethnic minority. In the aftermath of the “Woman Life Freedom” uprising, Iranian authorities have intensified their use of the death penalty to instil fear among the population and tighten their grip on power. This escalation includes the use of the death penalty against oppressed ethnic minorities, including Baluchis and Kurds.
Why take action? Simple – we know that the Iranian authorities are susceptible to public international pressure. We witnessed positive impact from campaigning on a number of individuals sentenced to death or charged with capital offences in relation to the protests.
Sign here to put pressure on the Iranian authorities to quash her death sentence.
