Since Monday, August 4, Ayub Javanpour, a civil activist and one of the figures arrested during the #Zhen_Zhian_Azadi movement, was arrested by security forces in the city of Saqqez and transferred to the city's prison.

This arrest took place while on Sunday evening, August 1, he was attacked by a group of Salafis and seriously injured.

Ayub Javanpour has a history of several arrests, interrogations, and torture by security agencies. In September 2017, he was arrested for attending a rally in support of the Kurdistan Regional Government referendum. He was also arrested again during the protests of September 2012 and released on bail after a while.

His third arrest occurred in June 2013. After three months of detention in the Intelligence Detention Center, he was transferred to Saqqez Prison. In January of that year, he went on a hunger strike to protest the execution of four Kurdish political prisoners and was held in solitary confinement for a week.
