Worrying situation in Qarchak Prison: Outbreak of virus with severe bone pain and throat infection threatens the lives of female prisoners.
According to reports, Qarchak Prison - which houses more than 60 female political, trade union and ideological prisoners - has become a center of crisis and calls on every honorable and freedom-loving person to take immediate and urgent action.
The health of prisoners is in grave danger and news indicates the spread of a dangerous disease. An unknown virus has been affecting female prisoners for three weeks; the elderly are in worse conditions.
Symptoms such as severe bone pain, hoarseness, infection and fatal sore throats, along with the crowding of more than 60 people in a closed environment with a low ceiling, seven ten-meter rooms and a small corridor, heat and lack of oxygen, severe physical weakness and overwhelming pressures, are just part of the hell that these conscious and freedom-loving women are experiencing.
The Secretary General of the Free Workers Union described the situation as "complicated" and wrote:
"Three weeks ago, they promised to transfer female political prisoners to Evin Prison. This news gave some hope and tolerance to the existing inhumane conditions. However, the families have been informed by following up directly with the Prisons Organization that there will be no news of transfers or improvement in conditions for the next three months."
Be the voice of the prisoners of Qarchak Prison.
