Soraya Alimohammadi, a 32-year-old woman from Saqqez, was set on fire with gasoline by her husband in the parking lot of their home on Tuesday, September 1, 2025, due to what was described as a "family dispute." She died after being hospitalized for several hours in the city's Shafa Hospital due to severe burns.
According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, this young woman, born in 1992 and the mother of a 7-year-old child, had repeatedly wanted to separate in recent years due to her husband's drug use and family disputes, but was forced to continue living together due to the lack of support from her family.
After neighbors informed her, she was taken to the hospital, but efforts to save her were unsuccessful. Her funeral was held at Aichi Cemetery on Wednesday afternoon, September 12.
