The death penalty for those who protested against high prices, unemployment, and poverty is inhuman and immoral.
While we will soon enter the new year, the Islamic Republic has once again stained the table of Iranian families with blood.
At dawn on March 18, 2026, the government's killing machine hanged three of the detainees of the protests of January 8 and 9, named Saleh Mohammadi, Mehdi Ghasemi, and Saeed Davoudi, in Qom prison.
These hasty executions, which took place only two months after their arrest, are not the administration of justice, but a naked "government revenge" to create fear and terror in society.
The trial of this case was a full-scale demonstration of systematic violations of human rights; the defendants, who were subjected to severe torture to force confessions, were deprived of the right to a lawyer of their choice, and were sentenced to death in closed-door, makeshift courts without going through the legal process of appeal.
Silence in the face of executions is a green light for the executioners to repeat these tragedies. We will not forget their names and we will seek justice for their blood.
We urgently call for international attention and action.
Right now in Iran, children as young as sixteen face the death penalty.
This includes:
The girl from Gohardasht, Karaj, arrested after a violent raid.
Mohammad Hossein Shokri, 16, a working child and street corn seller in Naziabad, Tehran.
Shayan Hadian, 16, athlete, swimmer, and boxer from Malekshahr, Isfahan.
These three are just examples.
There are many more children facing similar fates.
Children who should be in school, playing, and dreaming,
not standing in fear of execution.
Under international law, executing anyone under 18 is prohibited.
Yet in Iran, sixteen-year-olds are sentenced to death.
We call on the international community, human rights organizations, and governments worldwide:
Raise your voice. Take action.
Protect these children before it’s too late.
Every child deserves to live.
Every child deserves their dreams.
Every child deserves a future.
