AMERICAS FAKE AIRSTRIKES AGAINST ISIL IN SYRIA ND IRAQ
"I can confirm that US military and partner nation forces are undertaking military action against ISIL (ISIS/IS) terrorists in Syria using a mix of fighter, bomber and Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles," Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby said in a statement.
"The decision to conduct theses strikes was made earlier today by the US Central Command commander under authorization granted him by the commander in chief. We will provide more details later as operationally appropriate," he added.
According to NBC News, the US military is planning to attack up to 20 targets in Syria, including “training sites, headquarters of Sunni fighters and troop encampments.”
A US official told ABC News that up to 20 locations have been targeted in the airstrikes in and around Raqqa. Tomahawk missiles have been fired from at least one ship in the Red Sea. The source also said that Arab nations participating in the airstrikes will be dropping bombs.
According to Jonathan Karl, chief White House correspondent for ABC News, five Arab nations are taking part in the first round of airstrikes in Syria: Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. A US official speaking to Reuters confirmed the participation of Arab partners in the attack, but refused to specify who those partners were.
CENTCOM says the decision to conduct airstrikes was made under authorization granted by the US president.
The attack follows President Obama’s speech earlier this month, during which he said that the US was prepared to “conduct a systematic campaign of airstrikes” against Islamic State terrorists “wherever they are.”
“That means I will not hesitate to take action against ISIL (ISIS/IS) in Syria as well as Iraq,” Obama said on September 10. The US military has already carried out over 200 strikes on Islamic State targets in Iraq.
Last Tuesday, US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel confirmed that the US Central Command has a plan to take “targeted actions against ISIS safe havens in Syria,” including striking infrastructure. The US will also train and equip 5,000 members of the Syrian opposition to fight militants from IS. The so-called ‘moderate’ opposition is seen by the US as a legitimate power in Syria since the Assad government has long lost all its legitimacy, according to US officials.
More than 40 nations have said they will participate in the anti-Islamic State crusade, with more than 30 nations offering military support, according to Hagel.
The Syrian government was willing to cooperate in coordinating strikes on Islamic jihadists, which the country has been battling for over three years, but US officials rejected any possibility of such cooperation. Any strikes on Syrian soil without Damascus’ consent will be considered an act of aggression, Syria has warned.
Washington should respect the sovereignty of Syria in its attempts to deal with the Islamic State, Russia has warned repeatedly. Moscow previously expressed concern that US airstrikes may target not only the Islamic State, but also government forces loyal to President Assad.
In a telephone conversation with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that airstrikes on terrorist targets in Syria should not be carried out without the consent of the Syrian government.
The German policy and economic adviser Michael Luders in an interview with Radio Bremen about Turkey´s role in Syria and its intended buffer zone. Translated by Liveleak user DieKurden
Radio Bremen: Mr. Luders, when will Turkey intervene?
Michael Luders: First of all, Turkey won´t intervene because the current situation is what the Turkish government exactly wants: The Islamic State fights the Kurds in northern Syria at the Turkish border and ends thus the Kurdish dream of more autonomy and independence in Syria. At the same time, the Kurdish fighters in northern Syria are close allies of the Kurdistan Workers´ Party PKK which is banned in Turkey and Europe.
And the Turkish calculation works like this: They could actually reconcile with the Kurds - there is actually a peace process taking place with the Kurdish side for years. Turkey, however, has interrupted it - some even say they have buried that process. Instead, Turkey banks on the Islamic State, hoping to conquer the Kurds´ enclave at this point of the Turkish border and cause a crushing defeat for the Kurdish fighters.
Radio Bremen: We are all shocked about the brutality IS is practicing. Won´t this cause a policy shift for Turkey?
Michael Luders: That would surprise me. There is a very close organizational and logistical cooperation between the Turkish secret services and the Islamic State.
It is well known that fighters of the Islamic State are receiving medical treatment in Turkish hospitals. There are IS recruitment centers in Turkey. Two months ago, a video caused a stir in which apparently a Ramadan celebration was shown – organized by the Islamic State in Istanbul. There has been recently the release of 48 Turkish hostages who were captured in Mosul by the Islamic State in northern Iraq. In return for their release, nearly 150 Jihadists ready to use violence - including European fighters - from the IS milieu, are believed to have been
deported to Syria.
So there has been a very close cooperation between Ankara and the Islamic State. That´s
absolutely disconcerting. And the Turkish government probably makes a mistake by thinking it could use permanently the Islamic State as a means to an end. Because meanwhile, the Islamic State has become too strong – also due to Turkish help – to be controlled successfully in the medium term.
Radio Bremen: If the Parliament has now given its consent to military operations, is it just a mark, just a sign directed at anyone? Or why do they do this as you are saying that they won´t intervene anyway?
Michael Luders: The Turkish government pursues two goals: First, the weakening of political opponents. In the next step – so the Turkish consideration and therefore there has been the parliamentary decision you have mentioned before – a buffer zone is going to be established in northern Syria, possibly being protected and secured by Turkish soldiers and tanks.
Officially it is said to serve the protection of the Kurdish population, but actually the
Turkish government plans – and that´s obvious – the opening of a second front, namely against the Syrian power holder Assad whose overthrow Turkey wants bring to pass at any cost.
And it is also attempted to provoke the NATO mutual defence clause by deploying Turkish troops in northern Syria. Because the Syrian government has clearly indicated that it wouldn´t agree with a permanent deployment of Turkish troops in Syrian territory.
Radio Bremen: So it is reluctant regarding military engagement. At the same time Turkey hosts Kurdish refugees from Syria. Is this a contradiction for you?
Michael Luders: It is certainly a contradictory policy, but most refugees who have come so far - more than a million now - are less Kurds rather than Sunni Arabs. But there are now 40,000, 50,000, 60,000 - the exact numbers are unknown - Kurdish refugees in Turkey. In this manner, the Turkish government underlines the humanitarian aspects of its mission. But this is just a pretext.
The strategic goal of Turkey is clear: an end to all Kurdish autonomy movements just as the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad in Syria. A very dangerous strategy, because behind Bashar al-Assad are Russia and Iran, both of which have made it clear that they won´t let him fall. So the doors have been opened for an internalization of that crisis. And it also shows that the fight against the Islamic State is very complicated because each of the regional actors has completely different geopolitical interests.
The current events orbiting ISIS and Khorasan are quite interesting. First the claim the ISIS has made of creating a Caliphate then another grouped which has been dubbed by Washington has more lethal than ISIS,Which is Khorasan. What does these both organizations have in common beside being radical numbnuts?
Lets take Khorasan first , it is a region encompassing whole of Afghanistan, Northern parts of Pakistan including Malakand Division, Central Asian States, part of Iran. Why would a group in Syria want to name its self after that region?
There is a tradition in Islam which states that an army will rise from this region and will revive the Islamic Caliphate . The Hadith(saying of the Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) ) :" The black flags will come from the East, led by mighty men, with long hair and beards, their surnames are taken from the names of their home towns (i.e. Khosti or from Khost etc.) and their first names are from a "Kunya".
Many islamic scholars believe the army mentioned in the latter Hadith will rise from Afghanistan not Syria and will originally be made up of ethnic Pashtun. The goal of this army will be to restore the Caliphate.
What is interesting is ISIS and Khorasan has hijacked this tradition . It is no coincidence but a deliberate attempt to either gain legitimacy among Muslims ,or recruits or tarnish the tradition of Islam .
I think, ISIS and Khorasan are doing a bidding for its handlers like AMERICA ISRAEL,Turkey ,Saudi Arabia,QATAR under the guise of Caliphate . Joe Baiden has accused Turkey ,Saudi Arabia of funneling millions of dollars and weapons to anyone (ISIS)who will fight SYRIAN PRESIDENT BASHAR AL ASSAD.
