Öcalan: Kobanê is resisting for everyone

Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan has called on the resistance against ISIS attacks to be stepped up everywhere. Öcalan said: “Kobanê is for everyone. The Kurdish people are a shield there, no one has the right to abandon Kobanê.” Öcalan also warned that JİTEM are endeavouring to undermine the process.

Abdullah Öcalan was visited by his brother Mehmet Öcalan this week. He told DIHA about his visit.
Mehmet Öcalan said the visit had lasted 45 minutes, and that his brother had dwelt on 3 subjects. He had started by informing his elder brother of the death of their elder sister, Havva Keser. He said that his brother had then given a message regarding the attacks on Kobanê.
We will resist to the end against ISIS
Öcalan emphasised that the resistance against ISIS in Kobanê was for everyone, and that it would continue. He said the people of Kobanê had established their own system, which the [Turkish] state could not tolerate, although it should support it. He added that the people of Kobanê would resist to the end. He added that there would be no compromise with ISIS.
Abdullah Öcalan added that ISIS, with international support, was trying to extirpate the Kurdish people, saying the Kurdish people should rise up everywhere. He said: "Look, they're having some of us for breakfast, some for lunch and some for dinner. This is unacceptable.
Kobanê cannot be abandoned, the struggle there is for everyone. The Kurds are a shield protecting the Turkmen, Arab and Armenian."
The people of Kobanê cannot be abandoned
Öcalan continued, saying that the Kurds wished to live fraternally with everyone, including the Turks, but that this had to have a legal basis. He called on everyone not to abandon the people of Kobanê, adding: "No one has the right to destroy the Kurdish people. The only option for the Kurds is to resist."
There is theory in the process, but no practice
As regards the process of resolution, Öcalan said that while they were doing their bit, the process could not move forward unilaterally. He said: "They say they want Kurdish fighters to return. Well, where is the law to cater for this? Should they return and be thrown in prison? This is unacceptable." Öcalan added that for negotiations to occur he had asked for a secretariat to be provided, but this had not happened. He said: "there is a theory, but no practice. It cannot progress like this." Öcalan said: "If we want the process to continue we are ready. If they are not going to start things by 15 October, as far as we are concerned the process is over. There is nothing I can do. They are doing this for 5 years, it's not right."
JİTEM has got involved
Öcalan added that he guessed JİTEM (notorious Gendarme Intelligence Organisation) was attempting to disrupt the process, warning that JİTEM had to be removed in order for the process to go forward. Öcalan said: "We do not want delaying tactics. Our people should be aware and alert. We do not know what will happen tomorrow. Everyone must take a stand. Tomorrow may be too late."
Mehmet Öcalan concluded, by saying that his brother had sent his greetings to the people of Kobanê and all those struggling against ISIS.
