Sympathizers to the Iranian National Resistance Council (NCRI) and
samuelkub activists had a book table in central Borås on Saturday to mark the anniversary of the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in Iran.
NCRI sympathizers and FFFI members in Gothenburg marked the anniversary with a protest action at Kungsportsplatsen.
Participants shared information about the 1988 massacres and protested against the Iranian regime's systematic MRI crimes. They warned of further mass executions in Iran if Sweden and the EU do not break their silence about these massacres and are acting in the UN with the aim of bringing those responsible to justice.

This is in light of the fact that several of those responsible hold high-ranking positions and ministerial posts in the country and that the regime has arrested over 7,000 people during the last year's regimental protests that are ongoing across the country.

For example, both Rouhani's current Minister of Justice and the head of the regime's so-called judiciary are directly involved in this massacre.
Several of them have in recent days defended these extra-judicial mass executions in the regime's state media in connection with the anniversary.
A majority of the victims were members and sympathizers of Iran's main opposition group, the People's Mojahedin (PMOI / MEK), which is part of the pro-democratic opposition coalition, NCRI.
Amnesty International this week criticized the Iranian regime's former Justice Minister Mostafa Pourmohammadi after he openly defended the 1988 massacres of thousands of political prisoners in an interview with the regime's weekly magazine Mosalas.
"Mostafa Pourmohammadi's comments spread the same false stories used by the Iranian authorities for decades to hide the truth that they secretly robbed and executed several thousand political dissidents between July and September 1988 without trial as part of a systematic strike to eliminate political opposition ", Writes Amnesty in a statement on July 30.

The UN Special Rapporteur on Iran addressed the 1988 massacres in its annual report on the human rights situation in Iran in August 2017.

“Thousands of political prisoners, men, women and teenagers were executed between July and August 1988, according to reports following a fatwa issued by the then supreme leader, Ayatollah Khomeini. According to data, a three-man commission was created to decide who should be executed, ”the UN Iran reporter said in his report.

"In her first report to the United Nations MRI Council, the UN Reporter noted the case of the prisoner of conscience Maryam Akbari Monfared, who was denied medical treatment and threatened with a visitor ban for having published a letter calling for an investigation into the mass executions of 1988" , according to the report.

The threat to those who seek truth and justice was also highlighted by Amnesty this week.
"The warning from Pourmohammadi, counsel to the justice system, that these individuals must be prosecuted and the appointment of Ebrahim Raisi, who, like Pourmohammadi, is one of the responsible for the 1988 massacres, as head of the country's judiciary in March this year increases the risk of harassment and persecution of victims families, survivors and human rights activists solely because they seek the truth, justice and compensation, ”Amnesty said in his statement, July 30.

Amnesty therefore reiterated its previous call on the UN and its Member States to explore concrete measures to ensure the truth, justice and compensation of the victims.
The FFFI has on several occasions called on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government to take action in the UN and the EU to bring about a UN investigation of the 1988 massacres with the aim of bringing those responsible to justice and ensuring the number of victims.
