Turkey: Kurdish clashes multiply over Kobani inaction
The battle of Kobani continues to stir unrest in Istanbul.

On Wednesday night, security forces again clashed with Kurds who are furious at Turkey’s failure to intervene militarily to stop mainly Kurdish Kobani falling to ISIL.

Elsewhere the worst street clashes in years between police and Kurdish protesters have continued in southeast Turkey, much nearer the Syrian border.

At least 24 people have died.

Kurds are unleashing anger fuelled by their suspicions that Turkey actually supports the ISIL militants.

President Erdogan rejects any such suggestion but wants broader joint action with allies that also targets the forces of Syrian President Assad.

The fallout threatens to unravel Turkey’s delicate peace process with its Kurdish community.
