Turkish fascists Court Sentences HDP Lawmaker to over 16 Years in Jail.
A court in Diyarbakir has sentenced pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) lawmaker, İdris Baluken, to 16 years and eight months imprisonment.
MP Baluken is charged with alleged links to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) which is viewed by Ankara as “a terrorist organisation”.
Earlier in November 2016, Baluken was taken into custody as part of an investigation launched by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. After a brief release, he was once again arrested by the Turkish authorities.
Since 2016, several dozens of HDP lawmakers and supporters have been detained across Turkey. Among them is HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş who is kept behind the bars ever since his arrest in November 2016.
