Businesses Strike to Protest the Execution of Kurdish Political Prisoners and Iran Missile Attacks.
ollowing a call by the Kurdish parties and civil activists for a strike to condemn the execution of four Kurdish political prisoners and the IRGC Missile Attack on Kurdish Parties in the Kurdish region, businesses and shopkeepers closed their shops in a number of cities of Kurdistan today on Wednesday, September 12, 2018.
Different sources of Kurdistan Human Rights Network in various cities have reported the continuation of the strike despite the threat of security forces. According to pictures and videos received by KHRN, strikes commenced today in a large part of the Bazaars and markets in major Kurdish cities, including Baneh, Mariwan, Mahabad, Bukan, Sanandaj, Saqqez, Oshnaviyeh and Piranshar. Meanwhile, reports indicate that there have been increased security measures, slowdown and disturbances in the Internet coverage as well as the arrest of several civil activists in various cities.
According to these reports, two activists called Mozaffar Salehnia and Khaled Hosseini, as well as Mukhtar Zarei, in Sanandaj, Soran Daneshvar, Aram Fathi and Moslem Bahrami,Diler Rawshan, Mohammad Tabireh, Ahsan Partaqi, Noshirwan Khoshnazar and Arama Amani in Marivan and Khalid Gagni and Rashid Naserzadeh in Oshnaviyeh, were arrested by security forces.
In this regard, several businessmen in different cities have informed KHRN that the Offices of Places have called and threatened the businessmen and shopkeepers to open their shops immediately. Moreover, plainclothes and the forces of Office of Places are marking the shops of shopkeepers on strike in Mahabad and Sardasht in order to file an indictment against them.
It is noteworthy that the call for this strike followed the execution of four Kurdish political prisoners known as Zanyar and Loghman Moradi, Ramin Hussein Panahi and Kamal Ahmad Nejad on September 08 and 09 as well as the missile attack by IRGC on the two Kurdish democratic parties in Koy Sanjaq in the Kurdish region. As a result of this missile attack, 16 people died and more than 39 were wounded.
