Iran: Tehran Will Do Anything to Protect Iraq Unity

Deputy General Commander believes Iraq has the ability to succeed.

TEHRAN 

The Deputy General Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps pointed out that Iran will do anything needed to preserve the unity of Iraq in fighting against Islamic State (IS) militants.

On Thursday in a meeting with Iraqi Defense Minister Khalid Obeidi in Tehran, Deputy General Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps Brigadier General Hussein Salami praised about the successes of Iraqi Army in fighting against IS insurgents.

“The successes that have been achieved show that the military changes are in the interest of Iraq,” said Salami.

He CONTINUED, “Iran will do anything to protect the unity of Iraq in fighting against IS militants.”

Moreover, Salami noted that from Iran’s perspective, Iraq must be remained united, strong and independent.

“Iraq has the ability to succeed and due to its important geopolitics, the country has always been observed by other players,” added Salami.
