German Opposition: Turkey’s bombing of civilians in Afrin cannot be tolerated.

EWS DESK-The German opposition called on the government of its country to immediately stop all arms exports to Turkey and freeze negotiations on accession to the European Union, said that the Turkey’s bombing of Afrin’s civilians cannot be tolerated.

Zara Vajnknecht, head of the left-wing parliamentary bloc of the opposition German Left Party said “Whoever wants to continue negotiating with an Islamic dictator about joining the European Union, he has trampled on the European idea.”

She stressed that Angela Merkel should end her engagement with Turkey during her meeting with the Turkish prime minister on Thursday, pointing to the deterioration of freedoms in Ankara, which is arresting German journalists.

Germany suspended sending new arms exports to Turkey until a new cabinet was formed. Foreign Minister Ziegmar Gabriel said he had agreed with German chancellor Angela Merkel to suspend the Leopard modernization program.
