MOTHER OF TWO SENTENCED TO 80 WHIPS

Narges risks 80 lashes - only because she complained about the treatment she received while she was innocently imprisoned. Demand her immediate release!

Narges Mohammadi has been imprisoned many times for his peaceful work in Iran. Among other things, she has worked for women's rights and against the death penalty.

Now Narges is imprisoned again, this time with a sentence of 80 lashes.

This is the punishment for speaking out about how she was treated in prison earlier.

Now we need your help to put pressure on the Iranian authorities. Sign the campaign and stand up for Narges to be released immediately!

There has never been a greater suffering than when I was separated from my children. That wound will never heal.

Narges Mohammadi

Keep away from family

Narges is robbed of contact with both the family and the lawyer. She has not seen her children, twins Ali and Kiana, for several years.

The family is deeply concerned about her state of health.

In October 2020, we rejoiced that Narges, who is considered by doctors to be too ill to serve his sentence, was released from prison after several years behind bars.

Unfortunately, the joy was short-lived.

Just over a year after his release - in November 2021 - the family received a phone call from prison. The Iranian human rights activist had been arrested the day before, and told that she would serve a sentence of two and a half years in prison, including 80 lashes.

Now we have to stand up for Narges again. Together, we can put pressure on the Iranian authorities so that she is released and avoids being subjected to torture in the form of 80 lashes!

Exposed to abuse

The latest verdict is a result of Narges, while serving her previous prison sentence, complaining about the treatment she and other inmates experienced from prison guards.

In the complaint, she described how prison officers came with verbal threats, including death threats, and beat her. Narges is said to have had marks on her body after injuries from broken glass after her hand hit a glass door.

In and out of jail

Narges has been unjustly imprisoned for over 5 years for his peaceful human rights work.

She was imprisoned for the first time in 2012. Her imprisonment led to major health problems. After several seizures and temporary loss of vision, she was, after two months, released and hospitalized.

In 2015, Narges was again picked up by the police and taken to prison for further imprisonment. This despite the fact that a number of doctors and neurologists pointed out that Narges was too ill to zone.

The twins had to move abroad and live with their father when Mohammadi was arrested again in May 2015. Being away from the children is the biggest grief, Narges has previously stated.

Amnesty requires that:

Narges Mohammadi is released immediately and unconditionally.

She receives the necessary medical treatment and follow-up she needs, as long as she is still imprisoned.

She is protected from all forms of ill-treatment and torture, including whipping, in prison.

All charges against Narges Mohammadi related to her use of the right to freedom of expression and association are dropped.

Narges Mohammadi's allegations of torture are being investigated, and those responsible for abusing her have been brought to justice.

The signatures are sent to the head of the Iranian judiciary, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei.
