Japan assassinates former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe

During a speech by a politician in his hometown of Nara, a 40-year-old local resident shot him twice in the back. Abe was taken to the hospital bleeding out, reportedly in a state of "cardiac and lung arrest."

The attacker was detained, it is known that he served in the Japanese Naval Self-Defense Forces for three years. He did not resist the arrest, his motives are being investigated.
