The US has attacked targets in Venezuela on Saturday morning and captured the country's President Nicolás Maduro, President Donald Trump announced.
Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez states that Maduro's whereabouts are unknown.
On Saturday morning, several explosions occurred in the Venezuelan capital Caracas. People in the area have seen several explosions and planes flying low over the city.
AP writes that at least seven explosions were heard at 2 am local time, which was 7 am in Sweden. In images from various news agencies, smoke can be seen rising from La Carlota airport and a fire is visible at the Venezuelan military facility Fuerta Tiuna.
The Venezuelan government announced this morning that explosions had occurred both in the capital and in the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira.
