More and more people want to come to the Hela Malmö meeting place, not least for their breakfast program. But in line with the increasing number of visitors, it has also affected the costs for Hela Malmö. Despite an increased need, they have now been forced to pause breakfast.
The whole of Malmö is a meeting place that is mainly aimed at children and young people. Among other things, they have leisure activities after school, but also focus on parents and the elderly in the area.
Five years ago, Hela Malmö started a breakfast program. They saw that many children went to school without breakfast. But in line with inflation and rampant food prices, breakfast also became a place for both families with children and the elderly.
Now the need has increased so much that the whole of Malmö does not have the finances to run any breakfast business anymore.
What are the consequences when people can't come to breakfast?
- Children can go to school hungry. That older people who have found a connection now find themselves alone, says Aina Gagliardo, director of operations at Hela Malmö.
Future plans
The whole of Malmö now wants to find sponsors who can financially help them to run a breakfast business in the long term.
- We want to start up as soon as possible and that is our goal, says Aina Gagliardo.
