Foreign Minister Carl Bildt talks about what Sweden is doing to support the thousands fleeing from the Islamic State of IS.

Nearly 30,000 refugees in Sinjarbergen in northern Iraq at risk of "massive atrocities and a possible genocide in days or hours," says the UN minority expert Rita Izsák.

The refugees from various minority groups, including Christians and Yazidis, are threatened by jihadistgruppen Islamic state (IS) and worsening humanitarian conditions.

American flight continues to drop supplies to the refugees and to date nearly 100,000 meals and about as many liters of fresh drinking water delivered. A helicopter on its way through to the stranded refugees plunged on Tuesday, with one pilot was killed and a yazidisk parliamentarian injured.

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott says the country to send their planes to the area to help with nödsändningarna.

United States is also sending additional 130 military advisors to northern Iraq to assess the extent of the humanitarian crisis there, saying the United States Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel. American drone fired on Tuesday, a jihadist fortification in northern Iraq to protect the Kurdish forces who are trying to rescue the refugees.

While Germany states that it is prepared to send military aid to Iraq to assist in the fight against IS.
