PMF’s Crimes in Tuz Khurmatu Biggest After Halabja, Anfal Genocide: Official
Efforts are underway to recognize PMF’s crimes against Kurds as genocide

The crimes of the Iranian-backed Hashd al-Shaabi militias against the Kurdish population in Tuz Khurmatu are the biggest after the Halabja chemical attack and the Anfal operations carried out by the Iraqi former Baath regime, said a Kurdish official.
Arsalan Ali, a Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) official from Tuz Khurmatu, told BasNews “Hashd al-Shaabi militias committed a heinous genocide [against Kurds] in Tuz Khurmatu after the October 16 [operation]. I can say it is the biggest crime after Halabja chemical attack and Anfal genocide.”
He explained that the Shi’ite militias , also known as PMF, are behind the killing of hundreds of people in Tuz Khurmatu and destruction of hundreds of civilian houses.
The official revealed that efforts are underway to recognize the crimes of Hashd al-Shaabi in Tuz Khurmatu as genocide.
The Iraqi army, with support from the Iranian-backed Hashd al-Shaabi militias, launched on October 16, a large-scale offensive to take over the disputed territories, namely Kirkuk, Tuz Khurmatu and Khanaqin. The operation led to a humanitarian crisis as thousands of people were forced to flee their homes in those areas.
