Hashd al-Shaabi Obstacle to Yezidis’ Religious Celebrations: Official

Hashd al-Shaabi Obstacle to Yezidis’ Religious Celebrations: Official.

SINJAR — Kurdish Yezidis in their hometown of Sinjar this year were not able to celebrate Roji and Eda Rojiet Ezi (Fasting and Feast of Ezi) due to the obstacles posed by the Shi’ite militias of Hashd al-Shaabi, said a local official.
“The Kurdish Yezidis who now live in central Sinjar cannot publicly celebrate their religious occasions due to the unstable security situation and the presence of Hashd al-Shaabi,” said Khalaf Qasim, a member of Sinjar Mayoral Council.
He further explained that the Iranian-backed militias have even blocked the roads leading to Yezidi shrines and other holy location.
The majority of Yezidis from Sinjar and the surrounding areas are displaced since August 2014 when the Islamic State (IS) jihadists carried out a barbaric attack on the region, killing and kidnapping thousands.
