IS sympathizer convicted of restaurant attack

IS sympathizer convicted of restaurant attack
At the hearing, the 22-year-old has said that he on television has seen pictures when Muslims in Iraq and Syria are bombed.

"After a while, I learned that the Swedish government is taking part in these actions. Nevertheless, no one says, either from the population or authorities. Therefore I warned them.

But the fact that Sweden participates in such bomb bombs is completely wrong. The 22-year-old could not explain where he found the wrong information during the hearing. In a conversation with staff from the Swedish Migration Board, the 22-year-old states that he is an IS sympathizer and he could think of using force or harming people in Sweden. "
Climbing a waist belt, the 22-year-old threw firefighting bombs, so-called molotov cocktails in a restaurant in Ängelholm last year. The guards thought he carried a bomb belt.

The man is now sentenced to jail for a year and six months as well as expulsion, reports SVT Helsingborg.

"The people in the vicinity have had every reason to perceive the situation as an ongoing terrorist attack," said Linus Videgren, councilor in the press release.
In October last year, the 22-year-old went to an attack on the restaurant in Ängelholm, among other things by throwing in fire bombs, so-called Molotov cocktails in the room. Two guests were injured by glass splatters.

When the man was arrested, he wore additional dumbbells, a larger knife and a waist belt that the order guards perceived as a seat belt.

The belt later proved to be a vibration belt that the 22-year-old claims to have borne for his back problems.

The fake fire bombs were juice bottles that he bought at Ica Maxi.

Was perceived as terrorist attacks
The verdict against the man would have been on Friday, but already on Thursday, the Helsingborg District Court published a press release announcing the 22-year-old being convicted of gross unlawful threats and abuse.

He is judged, according to the press release, also for damage, violation of the knife law and violent resistance to prison for one year and six months. The man will be expelled from Sweden.

- With regard to the man's actions and the circumstances, the people who were in the vicinity have had every reason to perceive the situation as an ongoing terrorist attack. This has not only been understood by the man, but it has been his purpose, "said Linus Videgren, councilor in the press release.
