Mojgan Kavousi was released from Kachuei Prison in Karaj

A writer and researcher who was serving a prison sentence in Kachuei Prison in Karaj will return to prison after being released on bail.


Mojgan Kavousi, who had previously been sentenced to three years in prison on charges of "propaganda against the regime", "encouraging people to disrupt public order" and "membership in anti-regime groups", was sentenced on Wednesday evening, January 6, according to population reduction instructions. The prisoners have been released.


He was sentenced by the Nowshahr Revolutionary Court to 30 months imprisonment in the initial stage, but in the appeal stage and following the prosecutor's protest, he was sentenced to 69 months imprisonment, which was applicable to 36 months imprisonment.


The Kurdish writer and researcher from Kelardasht was arrested in late November 2019, following a raid on his home by the forces of the Terrorist Intelligence Service, without obtaining legal permission.


Ms. Kavousi was arrested and transferred to prison on Tuesday 2020 to serve her sentence.
