#Femicide; in iran A report on the murder of #Somayeh_Kiyomarsi and her two daughters by her husband in honor killing
A young woman named Somayeh Kiyomarsi and her two daughters named Sanaz and Maral Dowlatkhah were murdered by her husband in Maragha. The killer’s motive for committing the crime was stated to be what is called protecting honor.
According to a report received by the Human Rights Organization of Hengaw, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, a 41-year-old man murdered his 38-year-old wife named Somayeh Kiyomarsi and his two daughters named Sanaz Dowlatkhah and Maral Dowlatkhah, aged 17 and 9, in their shared home located in the Fawarehli neighborhood, behind Haji Ghaffar in Maragha city.
In recent days, state media, including Rukna, had announced that the motive for this crime, like other femicide cases, was family problems. However, Hengao's investigation shows that the woman and her two daughters were killed by her husband for honor reasons.
It is worth noting that the murderer turned himself in to the Maragheh Police Department after committing this crime.
The Islamic Republic of Iran's laws not only do not protect women from "honor" killings, but by creating an atmosphere of judicial immunity and light punishments, they have paved the way for the repetition of such crimes. Hengao warns of the systematic violation of the rights of women and children and the facilitation of the murder of women by their husbands and the murder of children by their fathers, as well as the hidden statistics of femicide and infanticide.
