Femicide in iran; A report on the torture and murder of #Ayla_Pasdar, a victim of forced marriage and child marriage, by her brother and relatives in Izeh
In May of this year, Ayla Pasdar, a fifteen-year-old victim of forced marriage and child marriage, was murdered by her brother and a number of other relatives with a firearm in Izeh. The killer’s motive for killing the teenager was reportedly due to what is called “honor protection.”
According to a report received by the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on Thursday, May 2, 2024, Ayla Pasdar, a 15-year-old from Izeh, was shot dead by her 18-year-old brother, with the help of her uncle and cousin, in the house of one of her relatives. The cause of death of the teenager was stated in her death certificate as “skull and brain tissue damage due to a gunshot wound to the head.”
According to informed sources, Ayla Pasdar was a victim of forced marriage and child marriage at the age of eleven and was separated from her husband at the age of fifteen. The teenager was constantly exposed to physical violence and beatings and was repeatedly threatened with death by her uncle, brother and cousins under various false pretexts.
The source also added that these people had previously tried to kill Ayla by cutting off her head, but the neighbors intervened to prevent this. Also, during another attempt, they tried to kill her by feeding her poison and tying her hands and feet with chains. She was taken to the hospital by those around her and saved from death.
It is worth noting that Ayla Pasdar was arrested by the police after running away with a boy and returned home. She was also taken to Ahvaz for a while as a neglected teenager by social emergency officers to be transferred to welfare, but was returned home due to the dissatisfaction of her uncles and brother.
It is worth mentioning that, during the attempts to kill her, and according to her brother's confessions, this fifteen-year-old teenager was finally killed by his own gunshot. Her uncles were released from prison after being arrested on bail, and her brother and cousin are in prison. An old man was also mistakenly killed during the attempt to kill the boy who ran away with Ayla.
Ayla Pasdar was finally buried without any ceremony or memorial in the Akbarabad cemetery, far from where her relatives are buried.
