US rejects Israeli claim of Turkish involvement in ISIL oil trade.

US Ambassador to Turkey John Bass denied on Thursday the Israeli assertion that the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) is being funded with Turkish money, saying that the US has not seen any evidence to support this claim.
In a statement released on the US Embassy's official Twitter account, Bass said the US rejects the premise that the Turkish government is in league with ISIL to smuggle oil.
“We have seen no evidence to support such an accusation. In fact, ISIL oil smuggling has decreased over time due to efforts of the Turks and other anti-ISIL coalition members to target oil extraction and transportation infrastructure,” Bass said.
The US ambassador stated that Turkey continues to take steps to improve the security of its border with Syria and to work with the US and other international partners in the fight against ISIL.
Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon said on Jan. 26 that ISIL enjoyed Turkish money for oil for a very long period of time. “I hope that it will be ended," Yaalon told reporters in Athens after meeting his Greek counterpart, Panos Kammenos.
Turkey has strongly denied permitting oil smuggling by the ISIL, which holds swathes of territory in Syria and Iraq. The US last month rejected Russian allegations that the Turkish government and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's family were in league with ISIL to smuggle oil.
