Kurdish Activist Sentenced to Death in Iran

Kurdish Activist Sentenced to Death in Iran
According to information released by Human Rights sources, the Iranian judicial authorities and officials in Sanandaj central prison have informed the family and the lawyer of Ramin Hossein Panahi, a Kurdish political activist, that he has been sentenced to death.

Panahi, 24, was reportedly captured in 2016 by Iranian security forces in Sanandaj.

According to sources, Panahi had informed the judge that even though some parts of his body internally bled under torture in jail, he was not allowed to receive medical treatment.

His lawyer revealed that Panahi was accused of "acting against the national security" and helping the Kurdish opposition (Komala), but these accusations have been refuted by the activist.
