The General Command of YPG (People’s Defense Units) released a statement marking the 4th anniversary of the liberation of Kobanê.

The statement gave strong messages regarding Afrin resistance and highlighted determination for decisive victory.

The statement by YPG General Command said the following;

“We congratulate the fourth anniversary of the liberation of Kobanê for all our people and democratic forces. We are grateful to all peoples and our forces who took part in the resistance of Kobanê that was liberated on January 26, 2015 for granting us this honorable life.

On occasion of the fourth anniversary of the liberation of Kobanê, we bow respectfully before the memory of Martyr Arin, Martyr Gelhat and all Kobanê martyrs to whom we owe this identity of freedom. We reiterate our promise that we will defend every inch of this country that was liberated by our martyrs.

It is clear that the Turkish state and Erdoğan government, whose support for and command of ISIS gangs is plain as day, will fail in its attempt to invade Afrin which it had tried to realize through ISIS before.

We salute the resistance of our people and comrades who are fighting in Afrin with the spirit of Kobanê today. Just like we put savage ISIS gangs in the dustbin of history in Kobanê resistance, we will undoubtedly send the AKP-MHP fascism and gangs to the dustbin of history in Afrin with the resisting spirit of Arins and Gelhats.

At a time when savage gangs like ISIS want to legitimize desperateness, barbarity, rape, pillaging and all kinds of slavery in Kurdistan, the Middle East and all around the world, our freedom cause and its resisting identity became the name of hope, freedom and equality, and an unprecedented epic of freedom was written with it. Everyone should know that we will be resisting every attack aiming an invasion with the same commitment and determination.”
