Statement of Human Rights Front Defenders condemning Zahra Mohammadi
The human rights organization Front Line Defenders issued a statement on Thursday, February 20, condemning the sentence issued against Zahra Mohammadi.
"During the temporary detention of this human rights activist, she was denied access to medicines for gastrointestinal disease," the statement said in part. "In addition, family members were reportedly threatened with arrest and pressured to make televised confessions."
"Front Line Defenders condemns the sentencing of Zahra Mohammadi because it believes that it is only for peaceful human rights and legal activities and to raise awareness about the social and cultural rights of indigenous minorities," the statement said. Which is also specified in Article 15 of the Iranian Constitution.
It should be mentioned that Zahra Mohammadi was sentenced to 10 years in prison on July 15, 2020, in the First Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj, presided over by Judge Saeedi, which was reduced to 5 years in the Court of Appeal of Kurdistan Province.
