Yazidis on Mount Sinjar call for urgent help

Yazidis on Mount Sinjar call for urgent help.

As the Operation to Liberate Sinjar continues since 17 December, more than 10 thousand Yazidis who are trying to survive challenging conditions with the onset of winter are in need of urgent aid.

Shelter, food and humanitarian aid are the primary needs of the 10 thousand people who remain on Mount Sinjar where they took shelter when the ISIS first attack their homeland Sinjar. The majority of those stranded on the mountains are currently living in tents they have set up in the areas of Serdesh, Kolka village and Çilmêra.

The Yazidi people from Sinjar whose security has been assured by HPG/YJA STAR and YBŞ forces have been facing since the onset of the winter a shelter problem in addition to the lack of food and clothing they have been suffering from since the beginning. While the closure of the humanitarian corridor between Rojava and Sinjar on 28 September led up to a failure of the delivery of their basic needs, the people of Sinjar on the mountain say that the recently provided aid isn't sufficient either.
Mainly made up of children, women and elders, the people on Mount Sinjar are in urgent need of milk and foodstuff for the children as well as medicine and doctors to intervene urgent medical problems. Despite the reopening of a corridor from both South and West Kurdistan, they are not being able to receive sufficient aid. They have recently been provided with some aid material by humanitarian aid organizations from South Kurdistan and by the Rêxistina Rojava ya Alîkarî û Pêşxistinê (RAP) from Rojava.
Some of the Yazidi people on Mount Sinjar told the followings as to what they have been through:

Mirad Qasim Îsa: For the last one week, the battle in Sinjar and Mount Sinjar is continuing under the leadership of YBŞ and HPG guerrillas. We want the Yazidi community to extend a hand to each other and to stand up all together. The people on Mount Sinjar are suffering from the cold and lack of everything. Besides the needs of the children, there is also a need for shelter and food. The Yazidis in other parts of the world should help us. Today, we are facing the 74th decree and we don't want to face one other. What we have been through this time has been different than all the others; women, children, girls and elders were abducted and massacred. We want the Yazidi and Kurdish people to help us.
A Kurdish Yazidi asking to be mentioned anonymous: The situation of the Yazidi people on Mount Sinjar is dire as the battle in Sinjar is going on. I am calling on our people abroad and the regional government to help us.
Cindî Hedî Qasim: The people on Mount Sinjar are facing difficult conditions that are becoming severer with the onset of winter. Despite all these, our people are being protected against the ISIS gangs. We expect financial aid from the United Nations, international powers and the people of Kurdistan. We are also extending our thanks to our people in Europe who have provided us with aid and remarkable support.
Muid: We thank those who have joined the Sinjar resistance. The hevals are protecting us for 4-5 months now. Our Yazidi people who have gone to North, West and South Kurdistan should turn back and take part in the resistance alongside the guerrillas.
Qasim: I came from South Kurdistan to join the resistance to liberate Sinjar. We are calling on every women, men and youths who can take up arms to come here and to join the YBŞ. Every honorable person should take part in this resistance.
