Donald Trump said the selection of Mojtaba Khamenei as the new leader “will lead to a lot of problems.”
The US president said in a press conference on Monday, March 9 (March 18), that with Mojtaba Khamenei at the helm, Iran would face the same problems as before.
Asked who he had in mind for leadership if not Mojtaba Khamenei, he said the names of “the son of the Shah” and “others” had been raised, “but they haven’t been there for many years.”
Mr. Trump said he preferred someone from inside Iran, like what happened in Venezuela.
Mr. Trump called the operation in Iran “a tremendous success” at the press conference and said the goal was to ensure that Iran would not be able to obtain a nuclear weapon for a “very long time.”
He also said that this war would end “soon.”
