Political Prisoners’ Protests in Rajai Shahr Prison Continue
The protest of the political prisoners in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj is still ongoing through refusing to receive the diet after several weeks. The prison authorities refuse to provide the blankets and sell heating supplies. Prison authorities use these restrictions to put pressure on political prisoners in prison. In addition, prison officials recently transferred three political prisoners in the ward to non-political wards to increase pressure on prisoners following the continuation of protests in the ward.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), after several weeks, the protest of the political prisoners in ward 10 of Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, is still ongoing.
It is reported that prison authorities have not provided heating appliances to put pressure on prisoners also refuse to provide blankets and sales of heaters.
It is said that a number of blankets were imported to ward 10 of prison to be sold to prisoners in February 2018, but the sale of these items to political prisoners was ultimately prevented by the opposition of Zia’ee and Ali Vali Mohammadi, prison authorities.
Buying heaters have been banned for political prisoners by the order of Gholamreza Zia’ee, prison chief, Nematullah Sadat Rasul, head of the protection and Ali Vali Mohammadi, internal director and warden of ward 4.
Three political prisoners named Iraj Hatami, Jaber Abedini and Hamzeh Darvish have been transferred to the normal ward on the orders of the warden and the consent of the prison chief following the protests and the sit-in of prisoners.
It should be recalled that in January 2018, Special Guard Forces entered political prisoners’ ward at 9 am and took several political prisoners out of the ward then keep them in a closed room for more than three hours.
In response to the protester prisoners, Prison Guard Forces announced that this unconventional visit had done at the behest of Mustafa Mohebbi, director general of the Tehran prison, to end the protests in this ward.
At least 30 political prisoners in Ward 10 in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, still continue to protest by refusing to accept the prison’s food. In protest against the unlawful deprivations and restrictions imposed on them, they demand the delivery of their lost and stolen personal stuff and equipment from the prison authorities. The Equipment of 35 rooms in prison is worth 3,85 billion IRR.
