A Labor Activist Began Serving His Term in Saqez Prison.


Osman Esmaili, a labor activist who had been sentenced to two months in prison for “participating in the International Labor Day” was send to Saghez prison to endure his imprisonment sentence.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Osman Esmaili, a labor activist who had been sentenced to two months imprisonment by the first Branch of the Revolutionary Court in Saghez for “promoting the interests of opposition groups” through “participating in the International Labor Day”, was send to Saghez prison to endure his imprisonment sentence.
Osman Esmaili, a labor activist who was given 30 days respite by the Law-Enforcement Branch of the Criminal Court of the Public Prosecutor of Saghez to present himself, had earlier stated that he was going to prison to endure imprisonment, on March 6.
Osman Esma’ili was detained by plainclothes forces in Saghez on April 28, 2015.
Shortly thereafter, he was tried in the first Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Saqez on charge of “attending the International Labor Day” and sentenced to one year imprisonment on November 21, 2015.
Mr. Ismaili objected the issued verdict, then the verdict was reduced in the fourth Branch of the Appeals Court of Kordestan province to two months imprisonment in Saqez prison, in March of 2016.
The verdict was communicated to this labor activist on May 15, 2017.
