A newspaper issued by Malta has angered the Turkish government after it was reported that the security authorities on the Mediterranean island had confiscated 800 kg of cocaine from a shipping container bound for Turkey more than a week ago.

The newspaper "Malta Today", which is published twice a week, described Turkey as a center for drug smuggling to the countries of the Middle East and Europe, after the authorities found hundreds of kilograms of cocaine on board a ship that was on its way to southern Turkey, after it set off from Colombia and passed the Mediterranean island.

The value of the materials seized by Maltese customs amounts to 117 million dollars, according to the newspaper, which stated that the authorities confiscated them more than a week ago, which saw this huge operation as confirmation of Turkey's role as a hub for cocaine transportation from Colombia and its distribution in the Middle East and Europe.

Narcotics and customs officers on the island of Malta found the cocaine inside a 40-foot refrigerated container with another refrigerated container containing 1,200 crates of fruit. The two containers were on a ship en route to the Turkish port of Mersin.

The 800-kilogram cocaine packets were hidden inside 26 boxes of fruit in a refrigerated container, according to the twice-weekly newspaper in Malta.

أثارت صحيفة تصدر من مالطا، غضب الحكومة التركية بعدما ذكرت أنباء عن مصادرة السلطات الأمنية في الجزيرة الواقعة في البحر الأبيض المتوسط، 800 كلغ من مادة الكوكايين من حاوية شحن كانت متجهة إلى تركيا قبل أكثر من أسبوع.

ووصفت صحيفة "مالطا توداي"، التي تصدر مرتين في الأسبوع، تركيا بمركزٍ لتهريب المخدّرات إلى دول الشرق الأوسط وأوروبا بعدما عثرت السلطات على مئات الكيلوغرامات من مادة الكوكايين على متن سفينة كانت في طريقها إلى جنوب تركيا بعدما انطلقت من كولومبيا ومرّت بالجزيرة المتوسّطية.

وتبلغ قيمة المواد التي صادرتها الجمارك المالطية 117 مليون دولار، بحسب الصحيفة التي ذكرت أن السلطات صادرتها قبل أكثر من أسبوع، والتي رأت في هذه العملية الضخمة تأكيداً على دور تركيا كمركز لنقل الكوكايين من كولومبيا وتوزيعها في دول الشرق الأوسط وأوروبا.

وعثر ضباط فرق المخدّرات والجمارك في جزيرة مالطا على الكوكايين داخل حاوية مبرّدة يبلغ طولها 40 قدماً مع حاوية أخرى مبرّدة أيضاً كانت تحتوي على 1200 صندوق من الفاكهة، وكانت الحاويتان على متن سفينة في طريقها إلى ميناء مرسين التركي.

وكانت عبوات الكوكايين التي تزن كل واحدةٍ منها كيلوغراما، والبالغ عددها 800 عبوة، مخبأة داخل 26 صندوقاً مخصصاً للفاكهة في حاوية مبرّدة، بحسب الصحيفة التي تصدر مرتين في الأسبوع في مالطا.

وحصلت "العربية.نت" على تسريبات من مصادر مقرّبة من حزب "العدالة والتنمية" الحاكم الذي يقوده الرئيس التركي رجب طيب أردوغان، تفيد بطلب الحزب الحاكم من المجلس الأعلى للإذاعة والتلفزيون التركي المعروف اختصاراً بـ RTÜK، بحظر موقع الصحيفة التي تصدر من مالطا أو حجب الوصول للخبر الذي ذكرت فيه أن تركيا باتت مركزاً لعمليات تهريب المخدرات.

وسبق لسادات بيكير، زعيم المافيا التركي الذي يعيش خارج البلاد أن اتهم مسؤولين حكوميين بينهم وزراء بالاتجار بالمخدّرات. وقد ذكر زعيم المافيا، اسم نجل بن علي يلدريم آخر رئيس وزراء في تركيا قبل إلغاء هذا المنصب، كشخصية رائدة في هذا المجال، إلا أن يلدريم نفى أن يكون نجله إركام قد تورّط في مثل هذه العمليات.

ورغم الطلبات المتكررة للأحزاب المعارضة للرئيس التركي بإجراء تحقيقات بشأن مزاعم زعيم المافيا حول تورط مسؤولين حكوميين في ارتكاب جرائم منظمة، بالإضافة للاتجار بالمخدرات، فإن السلطات لم تقدم على أي تحقيقاتٍ في هذا الشأن.

كما لم تستجب السلطات لطلبٍ تقدمت به نقابة المحامين الأتراك والتي طلبت إجراء تحقيقاتٍ فورية مع كل المسؤولين الذين ذكر بيكير أسماءهم عند نشره لمقاطع فيديو على موقع "يوتيوب" فضح فيها علاقتهم بزعماء المافيا وعالم الجريمة المنظمة.

وكانت السلطات التركية قد قيّدت الوصول للحسابات الشخصية التي يستخدمها بيكير على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، منذ نشره لمقاطع فيديو وجّه فيها اتهامات لمسؤولين بارزين في الحكومة التركية العام الماضي
