As state forces’ genocidal attacks and siege in Sur continues for the 97th day, bodies of many slain people have not been delivered to their families yet.

Families demanding to receive their children’s bodies in Sur district held a press release. Here, the families of slain youths expressed their concerns over the possible destruction of their children’s remains and condemned the AKP government’s dirty war policies in the region. Human Rights Association (IHD) Amed Branch Co-President Raci Bilici and MEYA-DER Co-President Ayşe Dicle also participated in the press conference.

In their statement, families condemned the AKP government’s attacks on Sur ongoing uninterruptedly since December 2, 2015, and the destruction of houses and cultural artifacts in the district. Families objected to the state’s attempt to repeat the massacres of Silopi and Cizre in Sur, and refusal to respond to the families’ demand to reclaim the bodies of their children over the past three months.

'STOP THE SAVAGERY AGAINST HUMANITY!'

Families recalled the brutal state-sanctioned murders of the 1990s and said that the same mentality was operating in Cizre and Sur today. Families expressed their concern over the possible destruction of their children’s remains, and called upon administrative and judiciary officials to hear their plight and take action in order to stop the ongoing savagery against humanity.
