YPG (People's Protection Force) fighters have reached the mountains of Sinjar to provide protection for the tens of thousands of people who fled there to escape the savagery of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS).
The YPG and public security (Asayish) are endeavouring to break the encirclement of the ISIS gangs in order to ensure the displaced civilians can reach Rojava.
The YPG forces from Rojava (West Kurdistan) reached the mountains of Sinjar at around midday today to protect the civilian population that has fled their homes following the occupation of Sinjar by ISIS gangs yesterday.

According to a reporter from Ronahi TV in the Sinjar area, gangs entered the village of Sinune without firing a shot after peshmerga forces left.
The Ronahi TV reporter said that a peshmerga convoy of 200 vehicles with heavy weaponry had travelled firstly to Rojava and from there had crossed into South Kurdistan.
The gangs told residents of the village of Sinune: "either convert to Islam, or leave". Thousands of people refused to convert and are going en masse to the Cezaa area of West Kurdistan.
The YPG and Asayish forces have established a corridor to enable people from Sinune, which is 15 km from Sinjar town, the mountains and other villages to reach Rojava safely.
Peshmerga military posts under control of YPG
All military posts on the border, including peshmerga posts, have been taken over by YPG and Asayish forces, who are ensuring people can escape the ISIS encirclement and safely reach Rojava.
While on the one hand the YPG fighters are endeavouring to protect the civilian population in the mountains over a broad area, on the other they are advancing to tackle the gangs. An ANF correspondent in the Rabiah area has reported that the YPG forces are advancing towards Sinune. No information has yet been received regarding clashes.
