The Turkish terrorist state is increasingly using sexual violence to prevent, limit or stop the Kurdish uprising. But this is nothing new.

Women are always the first victims of ethnic conflicts because they are still widely seen as the mothers of nations and the keepers of honour and dignity of a community. Sexual violence gains an added layer of importance and benefits the oppressor even more. Turkish police here are seen displaying the naked body of the young woman in a blatant effort to terrorise other Kurdish women from demanding their basic human rights. But we are not frightened of their torture methods. Our Kurdish women command ancient mountains and have proven their capacity to withstand the most barbaric forces. They will not be deterred, nor frightened. Such gender crimes at the hands of the Turkish state terrorism is only going to anger them and empower them towards political action!
