Mahmoud Shahrudi must be arrested and put on trial

We call for the arrest and prosecution of Mahmoud Hashemi Shahrudi, the former head of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s judiciary.

As the head of the judiciary, Shahrudi signed the execution sentences of numerous political dissidents and opponents of the Islamic Republic. Many people were tortured or lost their lives by the orders of this judge of the Islamic regime.

 Shahrudi is currently in a hospital in the city of Hannover in Germany. We call for his arrest and prosecution for crimes against humanity.

 Following efforts by Mina Ahadi, leader of the campaign for the arrest and prosecution of Shahrudi, along with many dissidents of the Islamic Republic, this campaign has now taken on an international dimension. The regime in Iran has said it plans to bring this criminal back to Iran soon. We, the undersigned, call on the Government of Germany to prevent this murderer from leaving the country so that he may be prosecuted.
