Autonomous Administration in Afrin warns of humanitarian disaster with international silence

AFRIN- Democratic Autonomous Administration in Afrin canton warned the international community of a humanitarian disaster if they continue to remain silent about the brutality of Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries’ attacks, urging them to speed up the movement and punish Erdogan for his crimes.
The Democratic Autonomous Administration in Afrin canton issued a statement to the world public opinion, attended by delegation from al-Jazeera canton and the women’s delegation from four parts of Kurdistan, Middle East and Europe, as well as hundreds of people from the canton.
The crowd gathered at Nooruz roundabout in the canton’s center, raising flags of People and Women Protection Units (YPG, YPJ), Yazidi Association, Democratic Society Movement, Democratic Union Party and Kongra Star.
The statement was read by the co-chair of the Executive Board of Democratic Autonomous Administration Dr. Othman Sheikh Issa. “Over the course of 51 days, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries targeted all types of heavy weapons by land and air, villages and civilian areas of Afrin canton, resulting in hundreds of civilians being martyred and hundreds injured.
In addition, the Turkish occupation is using psychological warfare against peoples of the area as well, cutting off basic resources including water, destroying schools, depriving children of the right to education, homeless families and the destruction of their homes.
Sheikh Issa said that Turkey’s occupation and fascist policy is aimed at the peoples’ will and wants to empty the area of its original people, as it did in many other Syrian areas and cities.
“If Afrin came to what it is today, it is the result of silence and indifference of the international community, so we, as Democratic Autonomous Administration in Afrin canton, warn UN Security Council, United Nations and international community of a humanitarian disaster.
And on this basis we call on UN Security Council and United Nations and Human Rights Organizations to get out of silence and accelerate the accountability of Erdogan and his army and stop attacks on the boycott and impose an air embargo on it.
After the statement, the residents went to al-Ashrafiah neighborhood with a convoy of dozens of buses and cars, and the residents are scheduled to hold activities there.
