French main opposition party LR leader Laurent Wauquiez stated that it was unacceptable that Europe leaves Kurds to their fate against Turkey.

The Republicans (LR) Leader and Auvergne- Rhône-Alpes Region President Laurent Wauquiez spoke about an aid campaign for Eastern Christians and Ezidi-Kurds at a press conference.

Criticizing Europe’s attitude towards the Kurds, Wauquiez said; “The attitude of Europe is not due. Kurds are being left to their fate against Turkey, which is a scandal.”

Remarking that ties with the Kurds -Europe’s allies in the anti-ISIS fight- mustn’t be severed, Wauquiez talked about their aid campaigns for the Christians in Iraq, Ezidis and the Kurds. As part of this project, an aid of 350.000 Euro will be sent to a city in Iraq every year to begin with.

The aid is expected to increase to 500.000 Euro per year with the contribution to be provided by French Red Cross and Mérieux Association. Wauquiez said their goal was not to help Eastern Christians alone, and pointed out that the diversity in the Middle East must be protected.
