11 executed in Iran on Wednesday
The Iranian regime executed 11 prisoners on Wednesday in four of the country's prisons in the cities, Karaj, Sanandaj, Esfehan and Kermanshah.

Wednesday's executions came a day after the regime executed juvenile delinquent Shayan Saeedpour in Saqqez Prison.

Shayan was 17 when he was arrested and held in custody since August 2015. He escaped from Saqqez Prison on March 27 after a riot in protest against the spread of the corona virus in the country's prisons.

The regime's repressive security forces arrested him along with several other prisoners a few days later.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights condemned the execution of Shayan Saeedpour in a statement on Wednesday.

The statement says that Saeedpour's execution was the second execution of minors within four days.

The regime executed Majid Esmailzadeh on April 18 in the Arbil prison, according to the UN High Commissioner. He was arrested in 2012 and later sentenced to death for murder that he must have committed as a minor.

"The executions of the two juvenile offenders are completely prohibited by international humanitarian law ... these executions continue despite the intervention of my office and talks with the Iranian government," UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet said in her statement.

"I reiterate my call on the Iranian authorities to respect their international human rights commitments and to immediately stop all executions of juvenile offenders and nullify all such death sentences," Bachelet adds.
