 Baha'i Citizen Saba Sefidi Arrested to Serve Prison Sentence

On the morning of Thursday, September 10, 2026, #Saba_Sefidi, a Baha'i citizen residing in Tehran, was arrested by government forces outside her home. She was subsequently transferred to Varamin’s Qarchak Prison to serve a three-year-and-five-month prison sentence.

 

According to informed sources, security forces arrested her outside her residence—disregarding the two-month grace period she had recently been granted to report to the prosecutor's office—and took her to the Jannat-Abad Prosecutor's Office before transferring her directly to Qarchak Prison to begin her sentence.

Saba Sefidi had previously been arrested in January 2022 and was released on bail after spending 45 days in pre-trial detention.

She was subsequently sentenced by Branch 29 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Ali Mazloum, to a total of four years and five months in prison on charges of "membership in groups opposed to the regime" and "propaganda activity against the regime." Following her acquittal on the charge of "propaganda against the regime" during the appeal process, the sentence was reduced to three years and five months of imprisonment.

بەرەبەیانی ڕۆژی پێنجشەممە 10ی ڕەزبەری 2026، سەبا سەفیدی، هاووڵاتی بەهایی دانیشتووی تاران، لەلایەن هێزەکانی حکوومەتەوە لەبەردەم ماڵەکەی خۆی دەستبەسەر و بۆ تێپەڕاندنی سزای 3 ساڵ و 5 مانگ زیندانی تەعزیر بۆ زیندانی قەرچاک ڤارامین گواسترایەوە.

بەپێی سەرچاوە ئاگادارەکان، هێزە ئەمنییەکان بە پشتگوێخستنی ئەو وادە یاساییە دوو مانگەی کە تازە پێگەیشتبوو بۆ ئەوەی خۆی پێشکەش بە داواکاری گشتی بکات، لەبەردەم ماڵەکەیدا دەستگیریان کرد و گواستیانەوە بۆ داواکاری گشتی جەنات ئاباد و پاشان ڕاستەوخۆ بۆ زیندانی قەرچاک ڤارامین بۆ تێپەڕاندنی سزای زیندانییەکەی.

سەبا سەفیدی پێشتر لە مانگی یەکی ساڵی ٢٠٢١ دەستبەسەر کرابوو و دوای تێپەڕاندنی ٤٥ ڕۆژ دەستبەسەرکردنی کاتی بە شێوەی کاتی ئازاد کرابوو.

دواتر بە تۆمەتی “ئەندامبوون لە گرووپە دژبەرەکانی ڕێژیم” و “چالاکی تەبلیغی دژی ڕێژیم” لە لایەن لقی ٢٩ی دادگای ئینقلابی تاران بە سەرۆکایەتی دادوەر عەلی مەزلوم بە کۆی گشتی ٤ ساڵ و ٥ مانگ بەندکران مەحکووم کرا. ئەم حوکمە پاش ئەوەی لە تۆمەتی "پڕوپاگەندە دژی نیزام" بێتاوان بوو، لە دادگای تێهەڵچوونەوە بۆ ٣ ساڵ و ٥ مانگ زیندانی کەم کرایەوە.
