Reports indicate the sudden transfer of about 80 prisoners from Fashafoyeh to Unit 3 of Qezl-e-Hazar prison; a section that, according to sources, has effectively become a detention center for security agencies

Iranian Center for Human Rights, Sunday, May 26, 2021 – In the last days of Farvardin and the first week of May 2021, two buses suddenly and secretly transferred about 80 prisoners from Fashafoyeh prison to Qezl-e-Hazar prison on two occasions. These transfers were carried out without prior notice, in complete silence and without providing an official explanation, and have raised widespread concerns about the purpose of consolidating prisoners in Unit 3 of the prison; a section that, according to informed sources, has now effectively become a security detention center for intelligence agencies.
Sudden and secret transfer of dozens of prisoners to Qezl-Hesar prison
According to reports received, between the last days of Farvardin and the first week of Ordibehesht, two buses carrying prisoners from Fashafoyeh prison (Greater Tehran) were transferred to Qezl-Hesar prison. The number of prisoners transferred is estimated at around 80, and it is said that all of them were transferred to Unit 3 of this prison without prior notice and under completely non-transparent conditions.
The widespread, sudden and secret transfer of these prisoners without any official explanation has raised serious questions about the purpose of these transfers.
Unit 3 of Qezl-Hesar prison; a security detention center in the heart of the prison
Informed sources emphasize that Unit 3 of Qezl-Hesar prison has practically become a detention center for security institutions in recent months. According to these sources, the prisoners housed in this section are kept in completely isolated conditions and have no contact with other prisoners. Even other prisoners in Qezl-e-Hesar Prison are unaware of the status, identity, and conditions of detention of those transferred to this unit.
Such a structure has caused Unit 3 to function more like a security detention center than a regular prison section.
