The Revolutionary Guards officially closed the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday.
Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesman for the IRGC’s Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters, announced that “control of the Strait of Hormuz has returned to its previous state” and that the strategic waterway is now under “strict management and control” of the Iranian armed forces.

He said that Iran had previously allowed the passage of “a limited number of oil tankers and commercial ships” “in good faith” but claimed that the United States, with “repeated breaches of agreements,” continues what he called “piracy and piracy under the guise of a blockade.”
Zolfaghari stressed that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will remain “strictly controlled” until the United States guarantees “complete freedom of movement of vessels from and to Iran.”
