The Riksdag said yes to the government's proposal for an extra amending budget for 2025 to donate defense equipment to Ukraine for a limited time.
The government is thus authorized to donate defense equipment and equipment in the energy sector to Ukraine. The proposal also involves increased appropriations and authorizations to procure equipment and prepare equipment to donate to Ukraine, as well as to be able to replace parts of the equipment that is proposed to be donated to Ukraine.
The defense equipment to be donated is in the form of, among other things, infantry equipment, vehicles, anti-tank weapons, ammunition and combat boats with weapons.
For the state budget, the proposal means that allocated funds will decrease by SEK 6.2 billion in total in 2025. The reduced expenditure is estimated to strengthen the state's financial savings by SEK 6.2 billion and reduce the state's borrowing requirement by a corresponding amount. The proposed changes to the procurement authorizations will result in increased expenditure and the appropriations are estimated to need to increase by a total of SEK 6.2 billion in 2026–2028.
