When I saw the members of the Druze scouting organization “Bani Ma’ruf” marching proudly with the orchestra and flags in the center of the field, I felt immense satisfaction. As someone who founded this organization and accompanied it from its first day, to see our young and high-quality generation standing there, at such a dignified and central ceremony, was a moment of true satisfaction.

I would like to thank Maccabi Haifa Football Club from the bottom of my heart for the welcome initiative and the warm embrace they gave to the Druze community and in memory of our sons who fell in the war. You have proven once again that sport is much more than a game.

IDF enlistment among Golan Heights Druze has jumped sixfold since the war began, marking a historic shift for a community that long opposed Israeli sovereignty. Col. Safi Ibrahim reports Druze conscription reached 85%, while Arab Christian enlistment tripled in the past year. The August 2024 Majdal Shams missile strike that killed 12 children and Syria's regime collapse accelerated the change. Ibrahim has established five military academies to prepare Druze youth for combat roles.⁠

אתמול בערב, כשישבתי ביציע באצטדיון סמי עופר, הלב שלי פעם בחוזקה. לא רק בגלל האווירה המחשמלת, אלא בגלל תמונת הניצחון שראיתי על כר הדשא.

כשראיתי את חניכי וחניכות ארגון הצופים הדרוזים “בני מערוף” צועדים בגאווה עם התזמורת והדגלים במרכז המגרש, הרגשתי סיפוק אדיר. כמי שהקים את הארגון הזה וליווה אותו מיומו הראשון, לראות את הדור הצעיר והאיכותי שלנו עומד שם, בטקס כה מכובד ומרכזי, היה רגע של נחת רוח אמיתית.

אני מבקש להודות מכל הלב למועדון הכדורגל מכבי חיפה, על היוזמה המבורכת ועל החיבוק החם שהעניקו לעדה הדרוזית ולזכר בנינו שנפלו במלחמה. הוכחתם שוב שספורט הוא הרבה מעבר למשחק.
