Hashd al-Shaabi militias forced Kurds to flee home in the city.


 A local official from Tuz Khurmatu said hundreds of schoolchildren have had their education interrupted after their families were forced by Hashd al-Shaabi to flee their homes.
Tariq Ahmad, director of the Kurdish language department in Tuz Khurmatu, told BasNews “Due to the displacement of Khurmatu people to the Kurdistan Region cities, hundreds of students have had their eduction interrupted.”
Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Education has decided to allow the displaced children to continue getting their education from the nearest schools where they have been settled.
After the October 16 military assault of the Iranian-backed Shi’ite militias on the disputed territories, the militias began looting, destroying and burning the houses of the Kurdish civilians, particularly in Tuz Khurmatu.
According to human rights organizations, over 160,000 civilians were forced by the militias to flee their homes in Tuz Khurmatu and hundreds of houses and properties were destroyed or looted.
